Health of oceans ‘declining fast’ – BBC News

Introduction

I just read this post by Dr. Andrew Morgen on his ‘OceansNRG blog‘. And found myself to be in full agreement.

I share his opinion that ocean health is quite frankly not given enough due consideration in oceans/marine policy development. Indeed the bulk of the consideration is put into the effect of extractive activities like fisheries, or seabed mining.

We need to be looking an marine effects cumulatively… which include other non-extractive anthropogenic effects, the effects of land-based coastal activities, and even indirect effects.
